Bob Shillin'

In one of several TV commercials Bob Dylan shot for Cadillac's Escalade, he drives down a dusty road and stops at a crossroads. But the implication isn't -- as I inferred -- that he's selling his soul to the devil, Robert Johnson-style. It's that he's driving freakin' nowhere, just smoking down the highway sucking up a gallon of gas every 14 miles just to hear the Escalade's XM Radio. In times when, as a Guardian blogger writes, "the climes they are a-changing," maybe this is tantamount to Dylan selling his soul.
